Does your five year old son support same-sex marriage? Does your fifth grade daughter think it could be good if she -- or one of her friends -- switched genders to become a boy? If proposed curriculum in Alameda Unified School District is approved, the answer to both questions will be “yes.”

Alameda Unified is proposing new Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender curriculum for kindergarten through fifth grade students. The curriculum claims to be about school safety and preventing bullying. In reality, it teaches that students must accept or “welcome” homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual behavior. This radical and unnecessary curriculum must be stopped before it reaches our children’s classrooms.

A series of public hearings on the curriculum culminated earlier this month, when hundreds of parents and community members gathered to voice their opposition to the curriculum. If the controversial curriculum is approved, parents will not be allowed to opt-out their children.

The Board of Education will vote on Tuesday, May 26, and decide whether to approve the curriculum. Special interests like the National Center for Lesbian rights are urging Board members to vote “yes,” but that is the wrong choice for our young children in Alameda Unified.

As concerned families and taxpayers, we offer this website as a resource for Alameda residents. We urge you to find out what is happening and to voice your strong opposition to the Board!
